Product
The Gulf Fluor complex has an annual production capacity of 60,000 metric tonnes of Aluminium Fluoride, 54,000 metric tonnes of Hydrogen Fluoride, 140,000 metric tonnes of Sulphuric Acid and 195,000 metric tonnes of Calcium Sulfate.
The importance of these products:
Aluminium Fluoride is an important additive in the production of aluminium metal. The Arabian Gulf has become a major center for aluminium production due to its attractive energy prices and vast energy resources.
Anhydrous Hydrofluoric Acid (AHF) is also used as intermediate product for the manufacture of fluorocarbons, such as R-134a and R-125, which are widely used in refrigeration and cooling applications, and fluorinated polymers. It is also used for petroleum alkylation, steel picking, glass etching and production of nitrogen tri-fluoride.
Gulf Fluor also produces:
Sulphuric Acid (H2SO4)
Calcium Sulfate (CaSO4)
The products of Gulf Fluor will help lower the imports of raw materials used for the production of aluminium, refrigerant gases, cement blocks, and chemical fertilizers by being able to supply the local market with most of its demand of those products which will help achieve independence, reduce imports and increase exports.
